MEET THE OWNER

Owner Zakaria Al Mokdad

Zak is from Bosra, Syria. He and his family arrived in Canada as refugees in 2016.

Back home, he had been a successful restaurateur, expanding his original coffee shop into two, thriving restaurants. Both places were bombed during the war, as well as the family home. The entire Al Mokdad clan of 8 fled to Jordan with nothing, and ultimately, was sponsored by a group of Canadians. The Mokdads are now proud to call Canada home.

One thing Zakaria did not lose was his dream to open a new restaurant here. And, in 2019, that dream came true.

Since its inauguration, Aleppo Kebab has been called "One of the best Syrian restaurants in Toronto" by BlogTO, and featured in both the Toronto Star and NOW Magazine.

Aleppo Kebab has become a true family business with the addition of Zak's nephews, Louai and Wael. Zak is married and has 4 children - a daughter and 3 sons. The kids love it here, although none of them are keen on winter. Join the club!
